Israel SIM Card – Unlocked Phone
An unlocked phone is a smartphone that is not exclusively tied to a single carrier by switching the SIM card.
What is a SIM card? Your device’s SIM card is basically the physical unique ID pass that allows your device to connect to a specific network. In order to be able to use Nes Mobile’s Israel SIM card you must have an Unlocked Smartphone.
What is an Unlocked Phone?
A locked phone is tied to work exclusively with one cellular carrier, and cannot work with any other network providers. Your smartphone must be unlocked, (not tied to work exclusively with your original carrier’s network) in order to be able to use it with Nes Mobile’s Israel SIM card. If your phone is locked, you will not be able to use it with Nes Mobile’s SIM cards.
What Should I Do if My Phone is Locked?
- Your first step should be to contact your local service provider and ask them to unlock your smartphone.
- Be sure to ask for a global unlock, not a regional unlock. A regional unlock may only unlock the smartphone just in your native country.
- If you have an iPhone that was just unlocked, you must run an iTunes sync to fully unlock the phone.
After your provider unlocked the phone, check if your smartphone really is unlocked!
One easy way to test if your phone is unlocked is to insert a SIM card from a different carrier into your phone. For example, if you use a Verizon SIM, try inserting an AT&T SIM into your phone. If the phone registers on the AT&T network, your phone is unlocked!
My Carrier told me that the phone is unlocked, but it says: Invalid SIM Card
If you insert your Nes Mobile Israel SIM card into your smartphone and receive a message stating: “Invalid SIM card”, “Network locked SIM card”, or that your phone needs a “SIM network unlock PIN”, it means that your phone is locked to your carrier back home. The good news is that more often than not, you could get your phone unlocked remotely.
In order to unlock your phone, you will need to contact your carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, or whatever provider issued the phone to you) and ask them to unlock your phone. The carrier can usually unlock your phone remotely, while you’re in Israel.
